NEW YORK - The Winter 2007 Writer/Director Forum, a festival of workshop productions of plays featuring new writers and directors, runs Thursday, November 29 – Sunday, December 16 at The Looking Glass Theatre (422 West 57th Street).  
 
The Looking Glass Writer/Director Forum is part of the company’s mission to reflect life on the stage with truth and theatricality while exploring a female vision/aesthetic. The festival is held twice a year at The Looking Glass Theatre. This year’s winter festival features the work of twelve emerging female directors tackling new works. Throughout the three-week festival, directors will present a wide range of styles in new works such as SPIRITS by Karin Diann Williams and PARADISE by Yasmine Rana.
 
Forum Audience Awards – weekly and overall, voted for by audience members – will be given for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Production.
 
The primary lighting designer for the Winter 2007 Forum is The Looking Glass Theatre lighting designer-in-residence Ryan Metzler. The full performance schedule is as follows:

  -- The levees break in New Orleans forcing illegal Indian immigrants Meena and Raj to decide between daring to hope for life or coming to terms with death.

THE ANCIENT CURSE OF THE DRUID by Ruth Tyndall Baker, directed by Norah Turnham
  -- A farcical feminine adventure featuring four very different sisters, a self-absorbed maternal muse, and a brother in way over his head.

About The Looking Glass Theatre…
The Looking Glass Theatre’s mission is to explore and expand the feminine aesthetic, producing works by historic female playwrights, new works by women, and productions of the classics re-imagined by contemporary women directors. In June 2006, The Looking Glass Theatre and Artistic Director Justine Lambert received The Lucille Lortel Award from The League of Professional Theatre Women. Additionally, New York Resident named Ms. Lambert one of the Top 100 New Yorkers of 2003 for her work with the company.
